Debra’s major fiction WIP is a series of Science Fantasy novels set in the near future of the Pacific Northwest. Book one is titled The Wyrdweaver.
I’m also working on a couple of short stories, intended for magazine publication, that take place in the “world” of the series—”our” world, mid-twenty-first century, after a series of costly wars and natural disasters, and a mysterious “eclipse” that seems to have given a few people extraordinary gifts. Or madness.
My first published short story was “Yardsticks.” A whimsical bit of literary fiction, “Yardsticks” was published in 2003 in IMAGE issue 37. (It also won the Kay Snow award in 1998, sponsored by Willamette Writers, the largest writers organization in the Pacific Northwest. I have it in mind to publish the story digitally as an Amazon short for about a buck, so if you’re interested in reading it, please sign up for my mailing list in the box on the right.
My first novel was a detective thriller. The Mystery of Things, was published in 2004 by Idylls Press.
TMoT has been out-of-print for a while, and I intend to keep it that way–I’m borrowing bits and pieces for the Grail Cycle–but copies are still available. Click on the image for more info.
